🎨 Art That Inspires Me to Create – SpongeBob & More

When I was little, my mom used to place me in a cardboard box filled with pillows and play cartoons on the TV. I didn’t understand it at the time, but something about those bright colors and imaginative worlds stuck with me. To this day, I still watch cartoons πŸ’“ and I’m over 40! One family favorite is SpongeBob SquarePants.

This past weekend, I painted my very first acrylic canvas, inspired by SpongeBob. I’ve never used acrylics before, but after following several artists on TikTok, I felt deeply inspired. I used a homemade canvas πŸ’“ wood for the frame, linen cloth for the base, and sealed it with poster paint. Improvised? Absolutely. But I believe that creativity flows best when it’s real.

From my son's third birthday to now, I’ve had a passion for drawing. I believe God gave me the gift to create πŸ’“ a blessing in a very tough season of life. As a young mother of three before the age of 20, art helped me earn a living when I had no support. I used to paint Disney characters on t-shirts and sell them house to house with my kids in a pram. Some judged me. Some supported me. But art kept me going.

Painting SpongeBob now is more than nostalgia πŸ’“ it’s a symbol of love, laughter, and family. Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people who make you feel safe and seen. The bright blue background in the painting represents my husband, who brought rebirth into my life.

I'm done, not just done with this painting but done with being the old version of myself, I am born again, and this time I AM NOT ALONE GOD IS CARRING ME!

Chapter 4: Runaway Train of Thought

Dad got the car working again. I sat in my seat, still trying to collect my thoughts. Everyone spoke, but all of it seemed like a buzz to me. I turn back towards my window, deep in thought again. What happened in the forest plays on repeat in my head. As if my brain wants to make it make sense.

I once again stare out the window into the woods. All the trees stand still as we pass by like a flickering thought. I try and find that familiar face again. I still have so much to say, is all that I can think. I hold my forehead. It no longer hurts as much, but I still feel faint stings.

I slowly close my eyes and hear the dirt cracking under the wheels. The snow is becoming flattened by the cars' heavy weight. What, who, when, is all that swirls in my mind. My train of thought gets broken by my name slicing through my static scattered thoughts. My mom stares me down, waiting for answers to a question I did not focus on.

"Sorry, Mom, can you repeat that?" I ask. She rolls her eyes, and I can already hear her say Typical even though she stayed quiet.

I open my window and lean out, letting the snow dance on my face once more. I stare into the sky, thinking of better times. I feel bumps as we drive on the old dirt road that we drove over for almost a thousand times. That's a bit of an overreaction, but it feels like it. The road is tattooed by the old old white sunbird. My dad has changed so much on this car it's not even the same car anymore.

The car slowly comes to a halt in front of the rusted gate of the time share. The old house probably saw a million footsteps where 20% of them were us. Another 3 weeks in the horror house in Alaska's mountains.

🧼 Cleaning Mondays – Keeping It Together One Sweep at a Time

Hey everyone! 🌟 I had a fantastic weekend working on my SpongeBob painting, but Monday is my deep-cleaning day. As a stay-at-home mom with rescue pets and a packed schedule, Mondays are when I tackle the mess so the rest of my week feels light.

Today I only spent an hour or two cleaning because I couldn’t wait to get back to painting. To make chores easier, I brewed some coffee and looked at  a few Amazon finds I absolutely love:
