In Today’s Noisy World…

In today’s noisy world of endless notifications, online drama, and “more, more, more,” it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and burned out.

But after listening to Mark Manson’s The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck* (thank you, free Spotify! πŸ‘‰ Listen here πŸ‘ˆ), one powerful message stuck with me:

πŸ’ “Happiness doesn’t come from avoiding problems πŸ‘€ it comes from choosing better problems to solve.” πŸ’“

True happiness isn’t about dodging challenges. It’s about choosing which problems are worth your time and energy. Manson reminds us that happiness is a form of action πŸ‘€ an active engagement, not a passive state.

Instead of running from problems, we grow by tackling the ones that matter most.

3 Life Lessons from The Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fck for Artists & Rescuers*

1️⃣ Problems Are Inevitable πŸ‘€ Choose Wisely

Life will always bring challenges. You can’t erase problems, but you can decide which ones deserve your energy. Focus on what aligns with your goals, values, and passions, and let go of the rest.

2️⃣ Values Shape Your Happiness

Your core values are your compass. When your actions reflect what you truly believe in, you feel fulfilled and resilient. When they don’t, stress creeps in. Know your values, and use them to prioritize.

3️⃣ Meaning Comes from Struggle, Not Comfort

Struggle shapes your focus and path. Comfort without challenge can feel empty. Growth happens when we face and overcome difficulties that matter.

Why This Matters for Artists, Creators & Animal Rescuers

The pressure is real: post more content, buy more supplies, chase likes. But here’s the truth πŸ‘€ you can’t care about everything, and you shouldn’t.

For me, it’s art (paintbrushes + AI magic) and creating a safe haven for animals.

One of my most healing creations? Bella’s Rock Tribute πŸ‘€ a piece that still connects deeply with animal lovers.

I focus on:

Time management πŸ‘€ organizing my day and ignoring distractions.

What brings me joy πŸ‘€ painting, rescuing animals, and creating for Waveful (where I get paid for my content).

The 6 Art Tools I Wish I Had πŸ‘€ And Why I Create Anyway

Listening to Manson reminded me: waiting for perfect conditions wastes precious energy.

Here are the tools I wish I had (and how I work without them):

1. Professional easel πŸ‘€ — built from reclaimed wood by my husband.

2. Quality detail brushes πŸ‘€ — no more frayed bristles mid-project.

3. Adjustable daylight lamp πŸ‘€ — see true colors rain or shine.

4. Portable sketch kit πŸ‘€ — inspiration doesn’t wait.

5. Heavy-duty storage drawers πŸ‘€ — bye-bye paint chaos.

6. High-resolution camera πŸ‘€ — capture every brushstroke.

Find them on my Amazon Finds page — every purchase supports my rescue and art work.

Applying “Not Giving a F” to Online Communities (Waveful Edition)*

Don’t waste your f*cks on drama πŸ‘‰ focus on creating and connecting.

Value originality over popularity.

Respect others πŸ‘‰ kindness is a high-value trait.

Avoid spamming πŸ‘‰ quality beats quantity.

Credit your sources πŸ‘‰ honesty builds trust.

How This Mindset Changed My Rescue Work & Life

Caring deeply for animals is magical ❤ the soft nudge of a rescue cat, a dog’s grateful tail wag, a bird’s return to freedom.

But caring deeply doesn’t mean caring about everything equally.

After reading Manson’s book, I learned my energy is limited. Worrying about what I can’t control (like unfounded doubts) only drained me. Now, I focus on animals I can help, projects I can finish, and people who value my work.

❤❤

Why This Matters for Rescue Heroes & Change-Makers

We can’t save them all  but we can save some. And for those, our focus and consistency mean everything.

❤❤❤

What You Can Do Today

1. Pick your battles πŸ’ͺ save your energy for meaningful action.

2. Help locally πŸ‘Œ even a bag of dog food matters.

3. Set boundaries ✋ protect your passion.

Diary Entry 1 1978 November 2nd Dear Diary, Today we are driving to that stupid timeshare Dad bought in the 60s "as a great investment opportunity" - whatever that means. Mom keeps suggesting dumb games to "pass the time." Dad is going to start screeching at the top of his lungs again in like 20 minutes, and worst of all, I forgot my phone charger and cassette player at home (which also includes my headphones), so I can't even pretend not to hear his request to join along in the song he knows none of the lyrics to. This is going to be a long drive to that old horror house this year. ____________________________________ My pen glides over t...
